Field Engineer

The Field Engineer will report directly to the Vice President of Operations with USIS AudioVisual Systems. Hours of Operation are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, with one hour lunch break and overtime, as required. Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, direction, and be held accountable for all assignments performed by AudioVisual (AV) Technicians and Installers, including deliveries, audio visual system installation, and testing
  • Perform troubleshooting, problem solving, and complete Project Engineer’s field punch lists to client acceptance of audiovisual components and integrated systems
  • Coordinate technical, architectural, and construction requirements with Project Managers,
  • Project Engineers, Design Engineers, Sales, and Vice President of Operations
  • Training and mentoring AudioVisual (AV) Technicians and Installers
  • Perform field service calls as required for warranty support of completed projects
  • Prepare/stage systems for Quality Control (QC) Testing (as applicable)
  • Create, modify, & test audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP)  programs (as applicable)
  • Test remote control system programs at client and USIS facilities (as applicable)
  • Prepare audiovisual components and integrated systems for Project Engineer’s “White Glove Level” Checkout
  • Provide routine status reports to Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • When required, travel outside metro NY area for job responsibilities. USIS AudioVisual Systems to pay for transportation, hotel, and per diem costs incurred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to pass drug and background screenings
  • Ability to lift up 75 lbs. with or without assistance


Required Skills:

  • Ability to comprehend audiovisual system schematics
  • Familiarity with multimeters, digital and analog test generators, and other electronic test meters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and collaborative team player
  • Ability to follow and enforce process and procedure
  • Computer proficiency with experience in Microsoft Office programs, remote control system (Crestron, AMX) and audio digital signal processing (DSP) programs
  • Experience with configuring and performing diagnostics of videoconferencing codecs (Cisco, Polycom, Vidyo, etc.)
  • Audiovisual industry certifications required
  • InfoComm CTS is required, CTS-I is preferred
  • Minimum of (1) audio digital signal processing (DSP) certification (ClearOne, Biamp, Polycom, etc.)
